«una de bars» in Ferida

In most of the trinquets (the playing fields of Pilota Valenciana sport), the access to the court is through the bar; It’s a place where fans wait for the start of the game drinking coffee, or having something to eat after the game; it’s decorated with inescapable references to this sport (historical photos, balls on pedestals, newspaper articles, etc.).

In the words of Pedro Valero, the journalist who wrote the report: “Of all the elements that are not part of the game, the bar is the only one essential within a trinquet. Not only for coffee or sandwiches, but also for being the space for reunions, bets that are not happening, conversations, and stories that make the name of a trinquet. Because if there are not two identical trinquets, neither are two bars. […] In the pilota, everything starts and ends in the bar. The trinquet bar is the beginning and the end of an afternoon match”.

En la gran mayoría de trinquets (las canchas de juego), el acceso a la pista es a través del bar; es un lugar en el que los aficionados esperan el inicio de la partida mientras toman café, o comen algo después de la partida, decorado con referencias ineludibles a este deporte (fotos históricas, pelotas puestas en pedestales, artículos de prensa, etc).

Según palabras de Pedro Valero, periodista encargado de redactar el reportaje: “De todos los elementos que no forman parte del juego, el bar es el único imprescindible dentro de un trinquet. No solamente para el café o el bocadillo, sino también es el espacio de los reencuentros, de las apuestas que no llegan, de las conversaciones y de las historias que marcan el nombre de un trinquet. Porque si no hay dos trinquets iguales, tampoco dos bares. […] En la pilota, todo empieza y acaba en el bar. El bar del trinquet es el principio y el final de una tarde de partida”.
