«l’herència de Juliet» in Ferida

In Pilota Valenciana,  the passion about this sport goes from parent to childern, even grandchildren, creating player’s dynasties, famous surnames. This is the case of the Palau. Guillem Sanchis interviews Salva, Adolfo, Julio and Guillem, grandchildren of one of the most important figures of the mid-20th century, Julio Palau, better known as Juliet d’Alginet.

In the words of the journalist: «There is a thread that is born from the Pilota of the 40s, in black and white, with filled seats, berets, glasses with smoked lenses, cigars, falleras and civil guards, and reaches the present , to the instagram stories with gifs of kittens, filters and Bad Bunny music. That thread is clearly seen in the Palau family. From Juliet d’Alginet, the revolutionary, dignifier and savior of pilota in the darkest years in the trinquets, to Salva, Adolfo, Julio and Guillem, the four grandsons of the maestro who, in their twenties, strictly apply their grandfather’s heritage : the empire of reason”.

En la pilota valenciana, la pasión por este deporte pasa de padres a hijos, e incluso nietos, creándose dinastías de jugadores, apellidos famosos. Este es el caso de los Palau. Guillem Sanchis entrevista a Salva, Adolfo, Julio y Guillem, nietos de una de las figuras más importantes de mitad de siglo XX, Julio Palau, más conocido como Juliet d’Alginet.

Según palabras del periodista: “Hay un hilo que nace de la pelota de los años 40, en blanco y negro, con escaleras llenas hasta el uno, boinas, gafas con cristales ahumados, puros, falleras y guardias civiles, y llega hasta el presente, a las stories de instagram con gifs de gatitos, filtros y música de Bad Bunny. Ese hilo se ve claramente en la familia Palau. De Juliet d’Alginet, el revolucionario, dignificador y salvador de la pilota en los años más oscuros en los trinquets hasta Salva, Adolfo, Julio y Guillem, los cuatro nietos del maestro que, rondando la veintena, aplican estrictamente la herencia de su abuelo: el imperio de la razón”.
